Premantura

History

The former small fishing village of Premantura with its population of a little more than 1000 inhabitants is the most southerly part of Istria and was settled during the Bronze age. Among others, the remains of the Villae Rustica are a continuing testimony of old Rome. A wonderful Minerva statue also found there can be admired at the Archaeological Museum of Pula.

The town centre

Good shops, banks, souvenirs and doctors can be found in the town centre. Premantura and its restaurants are well known for their great choice of excellent seafood.

Water sports

Premantura located on Cape Kamenjak is known as one of the best places to windsurf and sail in Istria due to the winds that blow across from the Velebit mountains. Wind conditions in spring and autumn are particularly good. Our sailing and windsurfing school with its diverse water sport offers is located here in Premantura.

Festivals

Of the many tourist and traditional festivals, we recommend the Crab Festival which takes place every year on 1st May, and the feast of St. Lawrence (Lovrečevo), the patron saint of Premantura, on 10th August every year.
